Having a great big de-commissioned bus at your disposal can be a valuable marketing asset, essentially a billboard on wheels. STA Travel used this asset to that effect and in this chapter of it’s second life, it was fitted out as an inspirational, brand awareness tool. The bus itself was wrapped with a travel inspired vinyl decal, with the internal spaces converted into casual dining spaces and a local specific inspirational space. The outer wrap was kept intentionally destination non-specific, so as the company partnered with different suppliers and tourist boards, the creative direction could remain consistent. The maiden voyage for the newly wrapped bus covered multiple destinations across the UK, along the way the bus stopped at various food and night markets and set up a pop-up restaurant. For this journey STA Travel partnered with Tourism Thailand, as such the pop up restaurant served Thai food and the internal spaces in the bus displayed inspirational Thailand specific content.
